Mario VeenI’m an interdisciplinary philosopher. I write, speak and podcast about how philosophy helps us think clearly about the existential issues we face now: the climate crisis, professional reflection, and rapid technological evolution.

My book Hoe Plato je uit je grot sleurt (Noordboek, 2024) translates Plato’s allegory for our time. My podcast Life From Plato’s Cave (56 episodes) brings together philosophers, scientists, artists and activists. I write columns as an existential journalist for Joop/BNNVARA and opinion pieces in Trouw, and recently completed the series Challenging Time: Reading against climate madness. I spent over a decade researching reflection and professional identity formation in medical education, combating The Reflective Zombie. I’m Associate Professor at Hogeschool Utrecht; what I write here is on personal title.
